Scripps Newspapers

Design // XHTML/CSS

At the day job, my primary responsibilities have revolved around rolling out the Ellington CMS to Scripps' various newspaper properties. Most of the sites utilize a common wireframe that evolves based on user and site feedback, with design elements used to give each site a local feel. My involvement ranges from just writing the XHTML/CSS for an existing design, to creating a new design and executing it start to finish. Sites I've contributed to include:

Rocky Mountain News
Times Record News
Treasure Coast Newspapers
Knoxville News Sentinel
Metro Pulse

Integrated Practice Resources

Design // XHTML/CSS

Integrated Practice Resources needed a web site to drive customer leads to its sales staff, and to deliver resources to its existing customers. ipr-management.com was rapidly developed to serve the needs of this medical services company.

The University
Daily Kansan

Design // XHTML/CSS // Django

My work with the Ellington CMS began at KU's student newspaper. While several design iterations led kansan.com to its first profitable school year in its 10-year history, I was also able to design special front pages to best communicate major events on the KU campus and around Lawrence, KS.

The Kansan began offering free classifieds to KU students - before Facebook entered the market - via my first Django site, hawkchalk.com. More Django sites were developed, including kansantrivia.com, a sponsored trivia game for KU students, and a Facebook application for the Kansan's most interactive section.

Most sites have since been updated, building on the foundations I helped to create in my three years with the Kansan.
